The course is multidisciplinary and deals with Greek mythology, self-awareness and contemporary visual culture. We will learn stories about gods, heroes and monsters, discuss the psychological meaning of the stories, and discuss the combination of themes from Greek mythology and contemporary culture. Examples include: The Hunger Games, the Percy Jackson series, computer games and animation, such as God of War, and contemporary art works such as The Cremaster Cycle. In the second semester we will apply the study to writing a seminar paper related to contemporary visual culture.
