As governments all around the world reduce their support in social services, new solutions appear. A shift from the philanthropic attitude under which corporations donated funds and means to NGO's, to the concept of "shared value" through the creation of strategic marketing plans which create joint value for SME's, society, environment and the corporation.
Local and global corporations has understood that in order to preserve their brand's positioning , they ought to devote resources and efforts to the promotion of ideas in the fields of social thinking, environmental protection, public health, road safety, domestic violence prevention and more. At the same time new technologies are empowering citizens to become actors in the development and delivery of social services.
Design Management is becoming a key process in the development and maintenance of powerful brands.  Design Managers have learned, through professional and advanced managerial tools to propel product, packaging, and service design to promote ideas such as reduction of fossil fuel usage, sustainability, healthy nutrition, active lifestyle and more.
