Bezalel 2011: Graduates Exhibition
Sharon Golan, Myshell
, 2011, Graduated 2011, Jewelry and Fashion
This shoe collection derives from a design concept that advocates minimization on one hand, while allowing, on the other hand, diversity as a method. The collection draws its inspiration from the shell of planet earth – the soil, being shaped by internal pressures and movement – bursting, raging, moving and sensitive to each change – in a similar manner to the functioning of the feet.
The series combines organic form with industrial working methods and materials. It consists of 16 modular parts originating from four categories of formal inspiration – pieces of fruit peel, egg, earth and conch – connecting to one another using silicon rubber bands. These elements produce 256 different models of shoes. An interactive website accompanies the project and showcases the shoe series.
Materials: thermoplastic polymer panels, silicon, dual-component epoxy based paint
Techniques: heat sculpturing, silicon casting
