“Until the Fingers Begin to Bleed a Bit”
A series of illustrated posters / dust jackets
for Charles bukowski poem collection

My work deals with the connection between the textual world and the world of image-making.
Since Bukowski's unique writing style does not fit in average poetry book, which tends to be clean, orderly and refined, I chose a format and visual language that can better match his methods.
I felt it was very important to enrich the reading experience using a direct and somewhat harsh, yet gentle and lyric visual language, in order to enable the readers to dive even deeper into Bukowski's world.
Like Bukowski's writing, my creations are based on rough and intuitive contrasting of Black and White, which is also rich in texture, rhythm, emotion and a sense of freedom.
Using this technique, illustrative interpretation and unorthodox format, a clearer image of Bukowski's world and personality is formed, along with a wider perspective of the subjects he dealt with in his work.
