My graduate collection originated from my mother's wardrobe, from items that were handmade especially for her by my grandmother. My fascination with these timeless garments led me to create a contemporary collection that pays tribute to these classic pieces from the feminine wardrobe and to the craft of knitting that is passed down in my family. In the collection, I scan photographs and knitted swatches from which I design a new image which I then print on various fabrics. Conversely, I hand-knit a digital image that I created on computerized software. In this way, I contemplate the question of the type of wardrobe I’ll leave for my own children in a world in which our clothes are no longer passed from one generation to the next, but rather tossed and replaced every season.
