Dirt and neglect in the public space are sometimes the product of a clear distinction between the home and the alienated and unremarkable outside. Placemaking is a movement that allows us to blur these boundaries.
Toys that combine movement and their inherent humor evoke positive feelings and curiosity. Street Toy is a series of toys available as 3D printing files, which the user prints independently and assembles on railings, fences, and drains in the public space. The series offers passersby and residents different degrees of participation as viewers and makers. The project serves as a platform that allows people to feel a sense of belonging to the public space in which they live and work, and to create a positive relationship with their environment.
