For more than two decades minorities have been struggling for the right to be different. Women, blacks—that is, African-Americans, women of color, people of non-Western ethnicity, Orientals, Ethiopians, Israeli Arabs, LGBT + queer, intersex, asexual + . . . . There is much diversity and disparity in the attempt to survive and transform a conservative hegemony. In this course we will ask:
What is misogamy? Homophobia? Zenophobia?
How can one survive bigotry, chauvinism, racism?
How can one overcome prejudice, silencing, oppression?
What can we do to promote equality and diversity?
