The M.F.A. program invites you to its 2025 Graduate Exhibition, 'We no longer have the luxury of time'.

The Master's Program in Fine Arts at Bezalel provides a nurturing environment for emerging artists, allowing them to deepen and refine their creative practice while developing a distinctive body of work. This year’s MFA graduate exhibition features 23 projects, marking a significant milestone in an ongoing academic journey that has included seminars, lectures, workshops, studio sessions, alumni engagements, exhibitions, and institutional collaborations.

This graduating class was initially set to begin its studies in October 2023. With the outbreak of war, however, the start of the academic year was postponed by several months and the past two academic years have been characterized by a sense of instability for us as a diverse and multicultural community of artists working in Israel. In keeping with previous years, this graduate exhibition does not adhere to a specific theme. Current realities have nonetheless unmistakably left an imprint on both the creative process and the manner in which the works are experienced by viewers. Several works engage directly with the ensuing months of war. Others explore concepts of identity, home, homeland, and family heritage, situating them within the region’s complex history. Many pieces raise questions pertinent to contemporary existence and the defining characteristics of our time: uncertainty, prolonged anticipation, instability, and an ambiguous future.

History is often filtered through the lens of wars, treaties, and their impacts on society and culture. Similarly, the MFA curriculum examines how such events are reflected in various art scenes globally, and particularly in our region. Art studies typically adopt a detached analytical perspective, yet now, we confront the cruel realities of history as they unfold—without the benefit of hindsight or philosophical analysis.

We no longer have the luxury of time.
