Israela Shaer Meoded Appointed Senior Fellow for the Promotion of Equality, Diversity and Coexistence at Bezalel

Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design Jerusalem announces the appointment of Israela Shaer Moeded to the position of Senior Fellow for the Promotion of Equality, Diversity and Coexistence at Bezalel, starting February 2025. The appointment was made as part of a dedicated fundraising campaign for this issue. In her role, Israela will lead the development and implementation of the Academy’s strategic plan for the promotion of equality, diversity and coexistence in academic activities, organizational culture and among all Academy communities—students, faculty and administrative staff.

Israela Shaer Moeded is a respected lecturer in the Department of Screen-Based Arts, a Bezalel graduate of the Department of Photography, holds a master’s degree from the School of Film and Television at Tel Aviv University, and is currently completing her doctoral studies at the School of Cultural Sciences at Tel Aviv University. Her films, which have been recognized at festivals in Israel and around the world, deal with issues of identity, gender, and culture in Israeli society. In 2014, Israela won the Excellence in Teaching Award, for excellence in teaching and for unique and ongoing contribution to the development of teaching and academic development at Bezalel.

Israela brings to the role a wealth of creative experience and cultural-social work promoting intercultural dialogue and a plurality of voices. Throughout her years of activity at Bezalel, she has led a variety of initiatives to promote equal opportunities in higher education, including in her work with first-generation students in higher education. Bezalel is confident that she will contribute to deepening Bezalel’s commitment to equality, diversity and shared life, and to establishing the Academy as an open and inclusive space that allows every member of the community to express their identity and realize their full creative and academic potential.
