The Department of Jewelry and Fashion at Bezalel, in collaboration with Browzwear and Delta Galil, initiated “Garment in a Day” – a unique event in which students were given the opportunity to dive into the inner workings of the fashion industry and experience the process of developing a complete garment – from idea to finished product – in just one day. Students from the Computer-Imaging course led by Gilli Azran took part.

The event was designed to simulate real-world garment development processes, emphasizing the fusion of creativity and technical precision. Students were challenged to create both a virtual design and a physical twin of a garment using Browzwear’s VStitcher software. The project’s theme, “Movement and Interaction with the Environment,” encouraged students to explore the evolution of fashion from the past to the future.

Participants worked together to complete the entire process of garment creation guided by industry professionals and leveraging modern technology. They journey began with students sketching an image of their garments using VStitcher software. Using Delta Galil’s high-quality fabrics, students simulated the garment’s appearance and rendered a final virtual version to test fit, movement and overall aesthetic. The Browzwear team supported this process by scanning the physical fabric, ensuring a realistic and precise virtual representation.

After finalizing their virtual designs, students printed the pattern pieces, cut the fabric, and sewed the pieces, transforming their digital creations into tangible garments. The event culminated with each student presenting the physical garment alongside its virtual twin, highlighting the seamless integration of technology and traditional fashion design methods.

Speaking about the event, lecturer Gilli Azran said: “‘The Garment in a Day’ event not only allowed students to explore the integration between virtual and physical garment creation, but also provided them with valuable insights into the industry’s workflow.” Oshrat Ben-Isaac, director of digital product creation at Browzwear, added: “The 3D language has become an industry standard. Collaboration between industry manufacturing, tech, and design students is crucial as it fosters innovation and ensures that technological advancements are seamlessly integrated into practical applications. This collaboration not only enhances the learning experience for students, but also drives the development of cutting-edge products that meet real-world needs.”
