The Sustainable Development Hub promotes operational changes on campus through student initiatives and collaboration with Bezalel’s facilities team.
Recycling – the waste separation on campus is as following:
- Packaging (Orange Bins) – right side of the double elliptical stainless steel bins in the common areas.
- General Waste – Square and the left side of the double elliptical stainless steel bins in common areas; black bins in high-waste areas; green industrial bins in workshops
- Paper (Blue Bins) – Located near elevators in cores B and H and in and around the printing labs.
- Bulky and Construction Waste – large container in the parking lot in -1.
- Glass (Purple Bins) – Bezalel is a glass-free campus, so there are no specific glass recycling bins on campus. Nearby purple bins are at 35 Hillel St. and 13 Shivtei Yisrael St.
- Cardboard – a large bin for cardboard waste is locatedin the parking lot in -1.
- Electronics – a container in -2, next to the Central Equipment Lending Unit.
- Batteries – at the Central Equipment Lending Unit.
- Reusable Equipment (in collaboration with Touchless) – Lockers in -1, to the left of the glass elevator.
- Raw materials – In each workshop, there is a designated area for extra raw materials to reuse.
- Recycling of hazardous waste, liquids, acids, plastic and polymer – collected by the building's systems and transported by a private company to Ramat Hovav.
- Hazardous waste, and more – various designated bins across campus
- Bezalel also employs energy-saving measures: temperature monitoring systems controlled by a maintenance center located on the -1; automated lighting controls, eco-conscious purchasing policies; reducing non-eco friendly single use plastics; changing work procedures and reducing construction and demolition.
