Touchless – The Student Sustainability Group
An environmental student group that has been active since 2019, promoting a greener and more sustainable artistic and academic environment both within and outside Bezalel. Over the years, Touchless has led initiatives to improve campus operations, including recycling projects and reducing single-use plastic consumption. The group helped create the Mekayemet (The Shared Materials Locker) and Bezalel’s Community Garden. To highlight sustainable student design at Bezalel, Touchless organizes an annual interdepartmental sustainability exhibition at the beginning of the second semester. In 2023, the group joined Green Course, a national environmental organization. Touchless also fosters connections between the Bezalel community and environmental organizations in Jerusalem, empowering students to leverage their design skills for meaningful sustainable change beyond the walls of Bezalel.

In the 2023-2024 academic year, a student team from the Sustainability Incubator course, supported by campus operations and Touchelss, planted a garden on the Screen-based Arts departments’ terrace. The garden serves as a space for pedagogical, community, and student-led sustainability activities. It includes three sections: a research garden for growing plants used in pigment production, a community garden with edible plants, and an open section for future research and creative projects.
