Space is not only a system of coordinates and relations between places, but also a form of organization of social relations. For about four decades, and especially since the "spatial turning point" in the social sciences, space has been seen as a key research tool for understanding a wide range of political phenomena, understanding that it not only reflects class inequality and ethnic and racial segregation, but rather an important part of their production. At the same time, space is a platform for different visual and material representations and an arena for diverse public actions. The course will discuss different spaces - from the national territory to performances in the urban space - we will see how these are shaped by power and politics, and in what ways they are used as tools of control and management, but also of creating a public voice and resistance.
