Semester B

Thursday
Time 10:00 - 13:00

In this workshop we will address curating in a wide sense, beyond the disciplines of art history and museology. Contemporary curatorial practices focus on the aesthetic, social, political, and philosophical aspects that arise wherever and whenever we experience art.

The meetings throughout the semester will be composed of theoretical and practical components. In the first part, we will discuss some of the central notions of art-criticism and contemporary curatorial practices. In the second part, students will develop a personal project including research and curatorial proposal. Among other things we will discuss the history of exhibitions and explore the relations between the artist and the curator, visual and material culture, the exhibition as medium, the catalog as a site, curating as framing time and events, art, and the public space, and more.
