The Arabic Movie: a case study. The purpose of the pro-seminar is to write a research paper in the field of cinema: choosing a topic, presenting a research question, constructing a thesis, locating sources and selecting possible methodologies. The course intends to encourage students to create through life experiences, research, intellectual depth and  the use of a theoretical "tool box", for the benefit of both their creation and  research. Based on the case of "Friday's Arabic movie", we will learn about the inter-relationship between the position of the researcher/creator and the object of research, how a creative act is also a creation of knowledge, and the importance of criticism and self-reflection. During the first semester, "The Arab Film" will serve as a case study for visual research and documentary work. During this semester, the students, in consultation with the supervisor, will have to formulate a research topic related to their field of interest and/or creation. In the second semester, the students will be asked to present their research (research question, thesis, approximate structure of the paper, research methods and sources).
