Research Methods: Videographic Criticism

During the year, we will learn how to perform academic research through the practice of videographic criticism. Through viewing and reading a wide variety of academic works, we will discuss the ways in which video editing and manipulation techniques create unique audiovisual methods of exploring and demonstrating academic research. The numerous course requirements will familiarize the students with academic reading, writing, researching, and creating videographic pieces. Each student will work on a year long project on a topic of their choice, which can be explored through audio-visual content, and will culminate in a short film, supported by a written essay
