What are the chances that we will meet something unique and rare on a weekday in the city?

Today's academia has become more diverse than ever with a mosaic of populations from different cultures and individuals who develop their own personal and unique identities. The purpose of the course is to get to know the different worlds the students come from, and together with the variety of disciplines they bring, to reach a point of discourse and action.

The students will work in small groups. They will locate underprivileged and unique communities in Jerusalem and collect folktales and testimonies from them. The students will respond visually (photograph, illustration, painting, collage) to the stories they collect, and we will unite them into a class product. These products will be another incarnation in the representation and cultural transmission of individuals and communities from Jerusalem whose voices are not always heard.

During the lessons we will learn about oral history, folklore and various instances of cultural transmission, in addition to field research in the city.
