You shall not make for yourselves - on the biblical visuality

As part of the course, we will carefully read the story of creation in Genesis in which there is a special relationship between the image of God the Creator and the created man through the mediating role of the artist. We would like to examine this relationship or tension as expressed also through the prohibition of divine representation in the Ten Commandments. We will ask in what way the question of the visual representation of God is related to his essence as a creative artist, and in what way this motif resonates to this day in Western culture and art.
