The Art of the Review – A workshop in critical writing

In this intensive and in-depth workshop students will acquire writing tools for composing a valuable and engaging review  (of a book, an art show, a play, or any other work of artistic endeavor). Following guidance by great reviewers, learning from poor reviews, and with inspiration by W.H. Auden’s thoughts on the service expected from a great critic (in his “The dyer’s hand”),

Students will experience writing a review which respects the art that is reviewed, and converses with it with knowledge and care.
