Experimental Video

Experimental cinema offers a different and completely different way from the conventional way in which we look at cinema and define it. He challenges the accepted conventions of the medium and offers a different cinematic way that is not based on a story and narrative, on a hero and a character's psychological motivations. The course will continue and deepen the making of experimental cinema and will consist of exercises and short experimental films that the student will produce and work on a broader final project that will be submitted at the end of the semester. The purpose of the course will be to expose the student to the wide and rich range of experimental cinema, including the contemporary one, which will deepen his knowledge and give him inspiration for the films he will produce during the semester. Through lectures and discussion in class we will deal with different subgenres of experimental cinema - surrealist cinema, abstract cinema, films that expand the foundation of time and focus on the everyday and poetic, the collage film and poundage and experimental documentary cinema, while focusing on the main creators of experimental cinema .
