Gala Reception & Art Auction
The Friends of Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design will host its annual fundraising event on November 12th at the new Frank Gehry-designed IAC building in the heart of Chelsea. The Gala will attract a group of approximately 250-300 important artists, architects, designers and collectors. Proceeds from this evening will: provide students with scholarships, purchase state-of-the art equipment and tools to enhance classroom and studio facilities, create special programs for recent immigrants and promote harmonious relationships among diverse groups of talented students in the region.
World-renowned architect, Frank Gehry, will be the recipient of the Jerusalem Prize for Arts and Letters. Adi Nes, one of Israel's most renowned contemporary photographers and a Bezalel graduate, will be the Special Guest and Alex Katz has donated a specially designed print as a Second Centennial Limited Edition.
Architect Professor Moshe Safdie, who served as a judge in the worldwide architecture competition, will review the winning design of the new Bezalel Campus at the Russian Compound.
Mr. Safdie will discuss the return of the Academy to the heart of the city of Jerusalem, namely the contribution to the strength and revival of the center of Jerusalem while connecting the students and faculty to the pulse of the city.
