Vacancy for the Position of Head of the Master's Degree Program in Visual Communication

Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design Jerusalem announces a vacancy for the position of Head of the Master's Degree Program in Visual Communication starting on October 1, 2023 (for 4 years, with the possibility of extension for another term).

Bezalel is the first academy of art and design in Israel. Since its establishment in 1906, Bezalel has been the central institution for studies, creation and research in the fields of material and visual culture.

The Academy has produced the best artists and designers who have influenced and continue to influence all creative fields in Israel and are widely recognized internationally. At Bezalel, the infrastructure was laid for the creation of the fields of art and design in Israel. The Academy's location in Jerusalem and its reference to the sources of local, Middle Eastern, and global culture place it in a unique position in the arena of art, design and architecture.

The role of the head of the program includes: defining the departmental vision and goals, promoting groundbreaking academic work, building academic content and the curriculum, faculty development, managing the quality of teaching, managing the teaching infrastructure, promoting local and international relations, local and international representation of the program, creating initiatives for growth, management and promotion of collaborations and projects, the development of the program as a knowledge and research center in the relevant field, resource management.

The suitability of the candidate for the position will be examined, among other things, according to the following criteria:

• Proven management experience in general, and in the academic world in particular.
• Excellent interpersonal relations.
• Ability to work as part of a team and systematic thinking.
• Charisma and leadership ability.
• Ability to lead change and development processes.
• Experience and excellence in teaching.
• Ability to represent and promote international activity.
• Experience in leading and directing research.
