The ‘What I Wanted to Say’ exhibition is being presented at the Edmond de Rothschild Center by the ninth cycle of the Bezalel Residency Program, which combines weekly art instruction and work with elementary and middle school children with creative practice in the studio spaces of the various schools.

This year, at a time when it seems that imagination is needed more than ever, the exhibition deals with narrative and parable in the creation of art as a way to reflect on universal truths and the simple interpretations of the world, and as a way of dealing with the existing reality.

The works presented in this exhibition refer to the local and the contemporary, and discuss the deceptive nature of the everyday and the power of artistic expression in shaping our perception, using elements from popular culture, the topical and the personal. Six graduates of the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem examine the tension between truth and fiction, and shed light on the creative process through symbolism and fiction.
