Nika Zhukova and Rimma Gefen are the winners of the Jerusalem Film Festival’s Diamond Competition for Israeli Short Films in the category of Best Animated Film
Nika Zhukova and Rimma Gefen, graduates of the Department of Screen-Based Arts, are the winners of the Jerusalem Film Festival’s Diamond Competition for Israeli Short Films in the category of Best Animated Film.
The two won for their film, “Heart Hug,” their 2023 final project in the Department of Screen-Based Arts. The film tells the story of Lilia and Max who find themselves defenseless on the first day of the war in Ukraine. They embark on a journey in which they will discover how much courage can be found in a loving heart. “Heart Hug” addresses the humanity and compassion that emerge from catastrophe.
As award winners, Zhukova and Gefen may submit their film for consideration for an Oscar.
