Yael Bartana Ranked Third in Monopol Magazine’s Top 100
Artist Yael Bartana, a graduate of the Department of Photography and Yakir Bezalel prize winner, has been named the third most important figure in Monopol Magazine’s list of the 100 Most Important Personalities in the Art World.
The German magazine Monopol, noted for its distinctive journalistic approach, is considered one of the leading magazines on contemporary art. It reports on the world of international art and culture, from modern art, through design, architecture, fashion, to literature and cinema.
Each year, the magazine publishes a list of the 100 most important personalities in the art world. The ranking includes artists as well as curators, gallery owners, collectors and other key figures in the art world.
This year, artist Yael Bartana, a graduate of the Department of Photography, was selected as the third most influential personality on this list. Bartana was awarded the 2021 Yakir Bezalel prize, a distinction bestowed upon her in recognition of her innovative and groundbreaking artistic and cinematic work; her uncompromising and courageous engagement with controversial subjects, which promote discussion and critical observation; and for her significant advancement of Israeli art and the world of international contemporary art.
