The Department of Industrial Design invites the public to a lecture by Gadi Amit: Technology Design, a Meeting of Parallel Lines. How classic, non-linear design processes have become central to creating leading products in the world of hardware and software.

Gadi Amit is a leading Israeli designer in the field of technology and industrial design. A graduate of Bezalel’s Department of Industrial Design (1989), he founded NewDealDesign in San Francisco in 2000, where he lives and works until today.

NewDealDesign, under Amit’s leadership, specializes in solving complex technological problems using a traditional creative approach that includes sketching by hand and prototypes. The company develops products intended for everyday use, both at home and at work, and works with leading companies such as FitBit, Google and Samsung. His professional achievements include over 200 design awards, the most notable being the American National Design Award in the category of Product Design for 2013, presented to him by Michelle Obama at a ceremony in the White House. The prestigious award is presented by the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. Amit’s professional vision, as a “technology designer,” which is how he sees himself, is to integrate technology into society in a democratically, culturally, and engaging way. This approach, along with his many achievements, has positioned him as one of the leading international designers in the field of design and technology.
