Ohad Milstein is the Winner of the Ministry of Culture Prize to Encourage Creativity in the Field of Cinema

Ohad Milstein, a graduate of the Master of Arts program and lecturer in the Department of Screen-Based Arts, is the winner of the Ministry of Culture Prize to Encourage Creativity in the Field of Cinema. Milstein is an award-winning documentary filmmaker. Alongside a study of narrative structure, his films possess a visual emphasis and cinematic language that examine the boundaries of the genre.

The prize is given with the aim of expressing Israeli society’s appreciation for cinematic creators and creation, and to encourage creativity in the fields of cinema in their various forms, while striving to promote quality and excellence, all with the aim of aiding the success and development of Israeli cinema.

From the justifications of the judges: “Ohad Milstein, documentary director of poetic qualities and a unique language that accompany each of his films, from the very beginning of his career as a filmmaker. In his recent films emerge an autobiographical element, each from a different, original and thought-provoking angle. Milstein’s emotional and aesthetic vision is characterized by true passion for art, and his films – including 'Summer Nights', 'Flood', 'Week 23' and 'Monogamia' – testify to his being also a brilliant and sharp-eyed photographer and editor. For all this, the committee has chosen to award him the 2024 Prize to Encourage Creativity.”
