A practical workshop aimed at imparting knowledge and practical skills in the field of documentary cinema. For the third year, this will be an initial introduction to documentary cinema through watching documentaries from Israel and the world and analyzing them. In the course, central issues in the field of documentary cinema will be discussed. At the same time, the students will produce short documentaries accompanied and guided by the lecturer. For the 4th year interns who chose the workshop, the framework will be a guidance forum and a meeting point between the lecturer and the student, as part of their work on the final video project. The workshop will concentrate in depth on video as an independent medium and a tool of personal expression in a variety of approaches: documentary, social and personal.

The objective of the studio in the first semester is to create an experience-based process through which the student will directly experience the connection between the conceptual discourse and the material embodiment of abstract concepts. The semester consists of a series of exercises that formulate tasks of measurement. Through these exercises, the students are required to create material tools – 2D and 3D, through which they may abstract, observe and obtain knowledge of the world around them. In order to perform these 'measurements' successfully, the students are required to rely on imagination and creativity and develop qualities of precise thinking, in addition to material knowledge and technical skills. The result is the creation of understanding through direct, 'hands-on' experience of the possibilities, qualities, limitations and consequences of material work.
