The course will introduce students for the first time with designing and realising 3d virtual objects and environments. The course will start by introducing primitive 3d shapes while focusing on creating and manipulating a single object. Students will then progress to working on a series of objects which share similar attributes but express different character. By the end of the course we will create a fully realised 3d environment considerate of points of view, structure, rhythm and mood. In this course we will highlight methods of self-learning and ways to keep progressing independently in this new medium. By the end of the course students will earn a new and powerful tool for creating images, designs, illustrations and assets for real time environments with a broad understanding of shapes, materials, lighting and spatial design.

In this class we’ll learn how to animate for non-linear timelines and games. We’ll understand the basic fundamentals which enrich animated assets with character and depth. During the course we’ll design and stylize characters, events and backgrounds - for animation, and by animation. We’ll create special effects in classic and digital animation, as well as develop skills and push boundaries in other various animation techniques. Students will create a modular system to connect units of animated loops and cycles to be controlled by a user - all in relation to the dramatic specifications of the narrative.

he course “Music and Sound Design for visual media” is meant to be a meeting place, a laboratory, where together we will investigate the connection between music and sound to visual media.

We will learn about the intriguing uses of sound in the arts both traditional and contemporary. We’ll investigate new ways to incorporate sound into personal works of art, possibly even in ways that are entirely uncommon.

The course is open to students from all academic levels in an effort to create an investigative and playful meeting place for students of all forms of visual art. We will work to integrate many layers of sound into varying final projects, student films, and various original exercises.

We’ll investigate the role of music, it’s place in the soundtrack, and how music influences the work for which it was composed. Music as a source of inspiration, as an editing tool, as an expression of an additional and possibly deeper layer of the work.

We will work on the actual editing of a soundtrack in its many layers: recording and creating effects, foley work, dialogue and music. Through this we will learn about the role of the soundtrack designer as the integrator of many layers into a single work.

We will learn about important soundtracks and musical works composed for film, animation, video clips and other visual media, as well as various approaches to musical composition and soundtrack editing.
