Session #7
Design for Eco-Centric Perspectives | Nirit Binyamini Ben-Meir

Nirit Binyamini Ben-Meir is a designer, artist, and researcher, PhD student at the Center for Intelligent Games and Game Intelligence at Queen Mary University of London. She is a lecturer at the Department of Information Experience Design at the Royal College of Art London where she graduated with honors.

Her work merges ecosystems and technology to challenge the human perception and view of power relations, bioethics and the consequences of the Anthropocene era. She investigates how a combined human-computer-plant interaction may affect the attitude towards maintaining ecosystems and a sense of responsibility towards the environment. As part of this research, she finds out how design tools can prompt reactions of organisms that are not visible to the eye, and illustrate complex systems of interrelationships that exist around us, and how design integrates and promotes scientific research.
