Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design Jerusalem and Shaham Culture Lab Invites to: BRUT - Exhibition of Final Works from the Artist Workshop with Lee Yanor.
During the month of October, a workshop was held under the direction of artist Lee Yanor, with the participation of sixteen graduates and students from various academies in Jerusalem—Jerusalem Sam Spiegel Film School, Musrara Multidisciplinary School of Art, School of Visual Theater, and Bezalel Academy of Art and Design Jerusalem.
Artists explored the concept of BRUT as a framework for primary, raw, intuitive and sometimes wild and naïve creation. Drawing on this approach, the artists produced works that engage with temporality, chance, and uncertainty within the creative process. “Shaham Cultural Lab,” an urban space located in the heart of downtown Jerusalem became a shared studio for creation, collaboration, and dynamic exchange across the disciplines of photography (video, film and stills), dance, performance, sound, and plastic art.
The workshop and exhibition are a joint initiative of the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, the Russell Berrie Foundation for the Economic and Cultural Development of Jerusalem City Center, and the Jerusalem Municipality. The program showcases the creative and research activities of Jerusalem’s academies and cultural institutions, while promoting inter-institutional collaborations among the cultural organizations and schools of art and design. At the same time, it offers a range of art and cultural events for the public in the city center.
