Dr. Gal Hertz has been appointed head of the Department of Visual and Material Culture

Dr. Gal Hertz has been appointed to the position of Head of the Department of Visual and Material Culture, effective from the start of the upcoming school year.

Hertz is a lecturer and researcher at the Cohn Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Ideas and at the School of Cultural Studies, both at Tel Aviv University. His doctoral thesis "’Words, not as Words’. Critique of Language, Ideology and Identity in the Work of Karl Kraus", won the 2016 Amos Funkenstein Prize.

Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design Jerusalem wishes Dr. Hertz great success, and thanks the outgoing head of the department, Prof. Ory Bartal, for his many years of contribution to the department and to Bezalel.
