Bezalel graduates are the winners of prestigious Red Dot Design Award
Dan Karsenti, Alon Avrami, Ophir Sheriff and Noa Lev, graduates of the Department of Visual Communication, have won the prestigious Red Dot Design Award in the “Babies and Children” category.
The designers have created NickWatch, a smartwatch for children, for the Nickelodeon channel. The watch offers a wide range of motion-based and imaginative experiences for children, and features beloved Nickelodeon characters such as SpongeBob and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Children can play games that encourage physical activity, role-playing, and stimulate off-screen play. They can personalize the watch themselves, listen to music and communicate by phone or messaging with pre-approved contacts like parents, siblings and friends. The smart watch includes a distress button which, when held down, allows children to send emergency messages to parents and members of the family circle.
The Red Dot Design Awards is a significant, highly-regarded international competition. Every year, it evaluates a large number of projects submitted by designers from around the world in the fields of communication, concept design and product design. The judging panel reviews the projects and selects those that represent the design trends of the future in aspects of design, functionality and innovation.
