Tamara Masel
Tamara Masel (born 1965) holds a Bachelor's degree with honors from the Department of Art at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, and a Master's degree with honors from the Department of Philosophy at Tel Aviv University. She has been teaching since 1997 in the Department of Art at Bezalel. She has presented in solo and group exhibitions in leading galleries and museums in Israel. Her main area of practice is in the expanded field of photography. In her work, Masel explores the surface of the body, everyday objects in the domestic space, and the immediate environment, mostly through the practice of studio photography. She also examines the horizon line and the expanse of the sky in her works.
Masel works from an understanding of photography as an artistic field capable of making present, simultaneously, both the reality before our eyes and our imagination and inner world.
