Tal Kantor

Tal Kantor (b. 1988) is an award-winning animation filmmaker and visual artist from Jerusalem. She is an Academy Member, independent creator, lecturer, and mentor, and a graduate with honors of Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design Jerusalem, where she currently lectures in the Screen-based Arts Department.

Her short film Letter to a Pig (2022) was nominated for the Academy Award in 2024, screened at over 160 international film festivals, and won more than 50 awards, including the Ophir Award for Best Short Narrative Film. Her graduation film In Other Words (2016) also received wide international recognition and won 17 awards.

Kantor’s work is characterized by a hybrid visual language and a research-based, poetic approach to docu-animation and hybrid cinema, combining animation, live action, and archival materials to explore social, political, and psychological themes. She has served as Animation Art Director and Concept Artist on acclaimed documentary feature films, including the Emmy-winning Advocate, as well as Outsider. Freud, Inbal Perlmutter – If You Let Me Go, and The Librarians.
