Guest Lecture | “Horizon of Events” – Shira Geffen

The Department of Screen-based Arts invites you to meet with filmmaker Shira Geffen in honor of the release of her new film 'Horizon of Events'. The meeting is part of the course on short feature films by taught by Itamar Alcalay.

Shira Geffen is an actor, playwright, children’s author, screenwriter and film director. Winner of the Camera d’Or Award, considered the most prestigious award in the world given to emerging filmmakers, at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival for her film 'Jellyfish', which she co-created with her partner, writer Etgar Keret. Her second film 'Self Made', was screened as part of the Cannes Film Festival’s Critics’ Week. She later created a French-produced series called The 'Middelman'.

During the meeting, we will watch the film 'Horizon of Events', winner of the Prize for Best Short Film at the 2024 Shanghai Film Festival, followed by a conversation with the filmmaker and questions from the audience.
