Bezalel Gallery for Contemporary Art invites you to the opening of the group exhibition: 'West Bank (Leaning)'

The exhibition 'The West Bank (Leaning)' at the Bezalel Gallery of Contemporary Art brings together works by Deganit Berest, Yocheved Weinfeld, Efrat Shvily, Yael Bartana, and Tal Shoshan, made between 1974 and 2010. Their presentation together is a deliberate act of rereading the works from the standpoint of the present, highlighting their relevance to the reality of the West Bank today. Through acts of cutting, stitching, building, holding, and marking, the works examine how borders take material form and organize space and the possibilities for movement within it. The exhibition’s title comes from Berest’s 1976 work “The West Bank (Leaning),” in which the act of leaning becomes an image of contact and dependence that does not erase the distance between things.
