Israel HaYom | Historic achievement: A prestigious international brand awarded a first prize to a Bezalel graduate
Perla Sibani, a graduate of the Department of Jewelry and Fashion at Bezalel, won the 2024 Pierre Cardin Prize for Young Designers. This is one of the most important international competitions in the world, and has been held for several years with the participation of designers from leading academic institutions for fashion studies.
Sibani got the inspiration for her designs for the Pierre Cardin designer prize competition from observing his longevity and as reflected in his house and car, with שמ emphasis on sustainable elements. As part of her first place win, Perla will have the privilege of interning at the French brand house for three months.
"From a very young age I loved to draw and was interested in clothes. I would do styling for my mother and sister. When I grew up it was clear to me that I was interested in studying fashion. The moment of the announcement was one of the most significant and exciting moments of my life," says Perla. "Hearing my name announced in first place on the world stage made me very proud. I am happy to represent the academic institution where I studied advanced work methods that led to my win."
