Irit Hemmo Promoted to Associate Professor of Practice

Irit Hemmo, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Fine Arts, has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor of Practice.

Prof. Hemmo, born in 1961, lives and works in Tel Aviv. Her works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in museums and galleries in Israel and around the world. Hemmo is the recipient of many prizes, among them the Dizengoff Prize for Painting and Sculpture (2019), the Minister of Culture’s Prize for 2018, the Mifal HaPais Prize, and the Rabinovich Foundation Award for 2015.

Hemmo has served in several public offices: in 2019 she was appointed a member of the judging committee for the Encouragement of Creativity Prize, the Ministry of Education, in 2016 she was a member of the Committee for Artist Initiative and Encouragement in the Professional Association of Visual Artists in Israel, and in 2015 she was appointed representative of the Department of Fine Arts in the Senate of the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem.
