Portfolio | Interview with artist Yan Bolotov, winner of the 2024 Rywkind Ben Zour Prize
Interview with lighting artist Yan Bolotov, graduate of the Master’s program in Fine Arts, and winner of the 2024 Rywkind Ben Zour Prize on behalf of the program and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. In the interview, Bolotov talks about his path in the art world and his final project “Shipment No. 273196121229,” which was presented at the Master’s Program in Fine Arts graduate exhibition.
About winning the award, Bolotov says: “This opportunity is very significant for me, a real step in my growth as an artist in Israel and in the world. At the moment I feel I am still in the very initial stage of studying the material, also from its most physical aspects. Working with light as a material is new for me, but also trying to interpret the experience, even before there is anything to say, is a very different process than the one I am used to in the world of video.”
The Rywkind Ben Zour Prize will be awarded annually to a graduate of the Master’s Program in Fine Arts at Bezalel, and includes a financial grant from Iris Rywkind and Eran Ben Zour in the amount of 40,000 NIS as well as selection of the student’s artwork for inclusion in the permanent collection of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. The purpose of the prize is to encourage the personal, artistic, and professional growth of the most recent graduates in the Master’s Program in Fine Arts, and is intended to nurture their creativity at this unique point in time, as they venture forth on their individual paths as independent and active participants in the art world, and to encourage excellence in the field of contemporary art, with an emphasis on original and groundbreaking work.
